N2 - Most of low-power electronic devices such as wireless sensors and implantable devices are powered by electrochemical batteries which have limited lifespans, need frequent maintenance and may pollute the environment. To solve this problem, sustainable power supply may be achieved by scavenging ambient vibration energy. Electromagnetic, electrostatic and piezoelectric transduction mechanisms have been adopted to achieve the conversion from mechanical energy to electrical energy. Among these alternatives, the piezoelectric method is of major interest because of its high efficiency and simple configuration. However, piezoelectric materials, especially piezo ceramics, suffer from the inherent brittleness and aging problems.
