Abstract

A general approach to the description of radiation force (RF) and shear displacement induced by an ultrasonic beam in a nonlinear rubber-like medium is developed. A new, non-dissipative mechanism of RF generation due to medium inhomogeneity is suggested, and the corresponding medium response is calculated for rubber-like media such as biological tissues.
