Abstract
The acceleration sensitivity of surface transverse wave (STW) on rotated Y-cut langasite (LGS) was analyzed and compared to STW on rotated Y-cut quartz. It was shown that the smaller device dimensions enabled by the slower velocity of STW on langasite lead to a potential order of magnitude advantage for langasite over quartz with respect to the driving flexural deformation. Aspect ratio compensation of the portion of normal acceleration sensitivity arising from symmetric flexure was applicable to both langasite and quartz.
