N2 - An overview of the development of continuous turbulence models that are suitable for representing the subgrid scale stresses in large eddy simulation and the Reynolds stresses in the Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes formulation is described. A brief description of the filters commonly used in conjunction with the LES models and a continuous model capable of bridging the length scale disparity from the cut-off wavenumber to those in the energy-containing range based on recursion approach is provided. The proposed continuous model is analyzed in conjunction with results from direct numerical simulations.
