Abstract
This research investigates nonlinear wave propagation in an elastic half-space that has a quadratic nonlinearity in the material's stress-strain relationship. The possibilities of measuring changes in the third-order elastic constants in the wave field arising due to specific boundary conditions are explored. It is shown that changes in both of the third-order elastic constants involved can be quantitatively measured using different nonlinear effects.
