    Abstract

Tremendous increase in the usage of mobile devices and interconnected social networking applications have brought privacy concerns for the end users. The privacy concerns in Online Social Networks (OSN) can be addressed with decentralized architectures where users directly interact with their peers. The distributed OSN platforms remove central authorities from the networked systems as users share their content only with intended peers through mobile devices. In a decentralized architecture, efficient sharing and timely access of objects play a vital role especially in interactive systems. In this study, we analyze content dissemination in decentralized OSNs. Measuring interactions in friend circle of 16 users red, which contain a total of 3,539 users, in detail, we analyze efficient approaches to locate online friends and exchange data efficiently and overhead with cloud-backed decentralized OSNs.
