Abstract

The ability to adapt successfully and efficiently to unexpected changes in the business environment or being agile is a key in gaining a competitive advantage in the global market. One of the major components of business competiveness lies in the agility of its supply chain. However, an improper understanding and assessment of the risks associated with supply chain agility can translate into decrease in the agility and ultimately competiveness of any business. The purpose of this paper is to explore and evaluate the critical risks associated with achieving and sustaining supply chain agility. Identification and prioritization of the risks to assess their relative criticality form the backbone of the research process. Recommendations based on the findings of the research are provided along with directions for future research. This research is expected to engineering managers develop robust risk management and mitigation strategies as related to their supply chain agility.
