Abstract

Presented is a functional feature-based approximate analysis for LFRTP parts using finite element algorithms. The paper starts with a brief discussion on the present approach used in the structural analysis of plastic parts and the proposed 'Feature Based Approximate Structural Analysis'. Subsequently, the concept of flexible boundary is introduced. Its application to the case of wall connections not only verifies the concept but also indicates the need of inclusion of the interplay between features. To demonstrate the applicability of this new feature-based approximate structural analysis approach, the stiffness and strength analysis for the top wall of an enclosure with different gate locations are performed.
