Abstract

Intelligent Decision Support Systems (IDSS) are computerized systems that help the user during the process of judging and deciding among different alternatives and activities. The huge information and data amount of students and businesses that need to be processed by Career Offices of higher educational institutions emerges the need of building IDSS that will facilitate the students' integration process from the universities to market labour. In this paper will be presented an IDSS that will bring in a common medium all university students and businesses in a specific country by facilitating the process of job applications from the students' point of view and the process of employee hiring from the businesses perspective. The aim of this system is to help students while applying for free job positions that best fit with their professional achievements and also guide the human resources staff to hire the best candidate that fulfil all the requirements previously specified in the call. An information retrieval approach is used for designing an IDSS,that will facilitate the process of job applications and candidate recruitment by simplifying the decision making of both students and businesses.
