Abstract

The recrystallization of various nitramines to form different polymorphs can be investigated by employing computations [1] and/or experimental analyses. Microcrystallization, the analysis of polymorphs using X-ray powder diffraction and Rietveld analysis, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), polarized microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) [2] are some of the available experimental analysis methods. The defect types and densities can also be characterized as shown for CL-20 [3].
