Abstract
Recently, the authors reported experimental data obtained with high speed cinematography to study parison formation and development during extrusion blow molding. This paper reports on work that extends the application of high speed cinematography to the study of the parison inflation stage. Moreover, a first order mathematical treatment is proposed to permit the calculation of the relevant dimensions during the parison formation, development, and inflation stages of the extrusion blow molding process. This treatment may also be extended to allow the estimation of distribution of bottle thickness.
