Abstract

A Multi-Scale/Multi-Grid methodology to analyze the failure initiation and propagation in 3-D rigid textile composite structures is introduced in this paper. The problem is investigated over the structural scale, at the scale representative of the 'macro-cells' of composite and at the microstructural level. The results obtained using the present method are compared with those from homogenous anisotropic material assumption with equivalent stiffness and strength.
