Abstract

The transport of water through sanitary landfills is obtained by numerical solution of the one dimensional unsaturated flow equation. A general code has been written that can simulate real time input conditions at the surface. The solution is obtained by a fully implicit finite differences scheme. A sensitivity analysis on the problem parameters indicates that correct identicates that correct identification of the hydraulic properties of the landfill material is very important. (A)
