Abstract
A three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain algorithm was developed to model the spectral behaviour of infrared bandpass filters consisting of plus-shaped openings in a thin gold film. This algorithm incorporates the Lorentz-Drude model to accurately describe the frequency-dependent permittivity of the gold at IR frequencies. The computed transmission spectrum is compared with measured data and excellent agreement between the two results is observed.
