Abstract
This paper studies the optimal allocation of one active redundancy to a k-out-of-n system in the context of statistically dependent component lifetimes. It is proved that assigning the redundancy to the weakest component is more favorable so as to get a larger system lifetime in terms of both the usual stochastic order and the stochastic preference order.
