Abstract
Acknowledgement messages in conventional ARQ operations include both ACK and NAK (ACK/NAK-based ARQ). In NAK-based ARQ, there is no ACK message. This paper examines the difference between the two ARQ approaches, presenting performance comparisons in terms of throughput and delay. Both random error channel and correlated fading channel are considered. The impact of a noisy feedback channel is also investigated.
