Abstract

With the emerging of smart grid techniques, cyber attackers may be able to gain access to critical energy infrastructure data and strategic market participants may be able to identify their rivals' offers or bids. This paper discusses privacy-preserving economic dispatch (ED) in competitive electricity market, in which individual generation companies and load serving entities can mask their actual bidding and physical data using random numbers before submitting to the System Operator. This would avoid potential information leak of critical energy infrastructure and financial data of market participants. The optimal solution to the original ED could be retrieved from the optimal solution of the proposed privacy-preserving ED. Numerical studies show the effectiveness of the proposed privacy-preserving ED while guaranteeing the same optimal solution.
