Abstract

An attempt to determine the best practices of fuzzy front end (FFE) of innovation was made by eight companies. A theoretical construct defined as the new concept development (NCD) model was developed to provide a common language and framework on front end activities. The evaluation of the proficiency of the FFE was made at 19 companies using the NCD model. Highly innovative companies were found to be more proficient in the FFE.
