N2 - This study proposes a novel framework for non-contact monitoring of the respiration rates of multiple subjects. The system consists of a camera-guided frequency-modulated continuous-wave (CG-FMCW) radar. The camera provides the radar with the coordinates of the subjects; this action rules out the need for conventional radar-based target detection, which is an error-prone process due to clutter and inter-subject interferences. Mapping from the camera to the radar antennas ensures an accurate delay-and-sum (DAS) beamforming for subject measurement. This camera-guided beamforming combination is used for the first time and demonstrated to estimate the respiration rate for single- and dual-subject scenarios with high accuracy rates in the range of 85.37%-99.99%.
