Abstract

A description is given of LPFORM, a system that enable users to design linear programming models interactively, using graphics. Outputs of the system include an algebraic statement of the model and data references that are subsequently used to generate the input for a solver in the standard MPS format. The emphasis is on the types of knowledge used to describe submodels and their relationship to larger models.
