Abstract

The luminescent efficiency in doped nanocrystalline Y2O3 : Tb phosphors was found to increase with the decrease in the particle size from 100 to 40 Å. This correlation was obtained from microstructural studies performed using transmission electron microscopy and luminescent measurements. The light output per Tb3+ ion in DNC T2O3 : Tb3+ phosphors exceeded that in the standard LaOBr : Tb3+ phosphor.
