Abstract
Stability of nonlinear two-frequency oscillations of cylindrical shells is performed by three criteria; by the use of Poincare map, by spectral analysis and by Floquet's theory. It is shown by comparing with a method involving direct integration, that the use of Floquet's theory is possible and that it yields accurate results within a certain range of parameters. It is also much more economical than much publicized methods involving numerical integration and Poincare map.
