Abstract

Due to globalization, outsourcing is a business model that is being implemented increasingly in the last decade. This trend is also occurring because of increasing pressure on U.S. organizations to deliver better value to its stakeholders. However, there are several risks associated with outsourcing and the traditional approach until recently has been to address these risks individually. Most organizations involved in outsourcing identify the risks and have plans in place on how to mitigate these risks if they were to occur individually. However, this approach is not sufficient because it does not deliver the expected value from the outsourcing projects. Hence in this paper, we introduce a new process which helps us to understand the holistic picture which would include the outsourcing risks and the interactions between them and thus understand the concept of systemic risk.
