Abstract

A separated oscillatory field technique was used to characterize the quantum states of a trapped atomic Bose-Einstein condensate. The characterization was done on the basis of Ramsey fringes produced by population difference due to mean-field interactions. The collapse and revival times were found to be dependent on the mean-field interactions and the initial quantum state of the condensate.
