Abstract
This paper is concerned with the provision of user interface capabilities in Decision Support Systems (DSS). The discussion is based on a simplified architecture for a ″DSS Generator″ . Interface design principles are surveyed and a set of interface software requirements is developed. The final sections of the paper discuss the idea of a generalized layer of software to satisfy these requirements for a broad range of applications.
